My mind goes back to that event on the Mount of Transfiguration.

"". Luke 9:28-34 (NLT)

This is a fascinating account of an event that can only be described as “other worldly.” Moses and Elijah turned up to talk with Jesus.  How did the disciples know it was Moses and Elijah, assuming they don’t have name tags in heaven?! I assume they had come  from heaven.  From the dimension or realm where God dwells. For this period of time - however long or short it may have been on that mountain - the glory of that other realm invaded this world. It wasn’t the first time and it wouldn’t be the last.

Jesus’ face was transformed. His clothes were dazzling white. Similarly, Elijah and Moses “were glorious to see” They bore in their very appearance the glory of that other realm.

And they were speaking about his “exodus” from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem. Do you see the significance of Moses being present and the topic of conversation was the exodus? The Exodus that Moses led was ‘small potatoes’ compared with the deliverance Jesus was about to accomplish.

Peter and the others had fallen asleep. When they woke up, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with him. Moses and Elijah were starting to leave, Peter, not even knowing what he was saying, blurted out, “Master, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

I think Peter wanted to capture this period of heavenly interaction. If he could just find a way to freeze-frame this mountain top experience. He wanted to make permanent that which could only be temporary. But even as he was saying this, a cloud came over them, and terror gripped them as the cloud covered them. Again, this was the kind of experience that Moses had - in the cloud with God

.  Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.”  When the voice finished, Jesus was there alone. They didn’t tell anyone at that time what they had seen.

Now this is an amazing account of heaven interacting with the natural world. It  demonstrates life beyond the grave - the natural and supernatural are found to be realities.
