"Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting"

Father God, are my anxious thoughts offensive to you? Surely they must be. If high anxiety about circumstances equals low faith in you, my anxious thoughts must grieve your heart. I know they grieve mine.

As much as I try at times to justify the presence of anxiety, I know that the presence of anxious thoughts dishonours your faithfulness to me over the years. You have never given me cause to panic although I have sometimes chosen to panic and not to pray.

Enable me to trust you for today's decisions and situations. Lord, maybe the greatest gift I can give you today is the trust and confidence of my heart.
