  • Our Journey Through The Valley (71)

    20 February, 2014

I was having trouble sleeping last night. My mind was re-visiting our situation as we live daily with MND. When I am tempted to have a "Pity Party" I try to recall any positives that we have found on this journey.

I thought of the many, many people who pray for us every day. Like Betty.  I met up with Betty just recently and she very deliberately squeezed my hand, looked me square in the eye and said, "I pray for you and Bev every day.... without fail....every day!" The determination in her voice and in her eyes was unmistakeable .

I know there are many "Bettys" out there. Their prayers release the resources of heaven into our lives. We daily know the sustaining power of God

But then, in those early morning hours, I heard another voice. Not audible. A voice within my spirit that seemed to whisper, "Michael, Beverley, Satan has eagerly begged to sift each of you like wheat. But I have  prayed for you, that your faith should not fail. So, when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers". (A reflection based on Luke 22/31,32)

"But I have prayed for you...." Now, I've read that passage often but never applied it to myself as happened last night. Jesus prays for us. For us!! Of all the people who pray for us, don't forget Jesus prays for us, too.

Therefore he is able, once and forever, to save everyone who comes to God through him. He lives forever to plead with God on their behalf. (Heb 7:24-25 NLT)

I want to explore the significance of this wonderful reality as we ask the Sprit of God to integrate it into our lives. I hope you will call in from time to time and see how we are going.
